A small talk about repentance

Another post of #Thirty-three (original at 10/2011)
“But he did {that wich was} evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;” – 2 Chronicles 33:22

This verse is a warning to parents, it reminds us that children learn more by example than by words. However, as a daughter , I feel the duty to show the alert to the children that this verse also conveys.
Manasseh had sinned against God, despite the excellent example which Hezekiah his father had left. Ammon followed the bad example of his father.
However, the story of Manasseh does not end this way. He turned to God in repentance, and ended his days in the presence of God. Ammon, on the other hand, preferred to follow the bad example of his father, that he may not have seen (Manasseh reigned fifty years in Jerusalem, and Ammon were king at 22), than to follow your good example.
How many are not like that, use the excuse that they misbehave because their parents were like that?
We must take responsibility for our actions and follow the good examples that our parents gave us, leaving what they did bad in the past.
After all, if Manasseh repented, which prevented Ammon to do the same?

Dreams (almost) frustrated

Another post of #Thirty-three (original at 09/2011)

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." PSalms 27:10

This verse is often used to comfort those who lost their parents or were abandoned by them physically, but I believe that your application can be extended.

We often have big dreams and our parents, for fear perhaps, do not support us. Of those who expect more power, have rejected.

Except in cases where they are actually being used by God to protect us from adisaster, we know we can count on God to support this struggle until our dreams aremade - not least because, if we seek God this support, heart open seek His will, He will show us whether or not we should continue fighting for those dreams.

So I complement the verse: "When my father and my mother forsake me, physically, emotionally,or spiritually, then the LORD will take me up."
